Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) is the largest community healthcare provider in the UK with a wide range of services for children and adults.

Access to clinicians and non-clinical staff who are able to test and trial products, services and solutions and provide feedback for the benefit of the SMEs:
o R&I team at BCHC tested the medication adherence remote monitoring system designed by Acute Technologies Limited and provided feedback on the product after a 2-week trial.
Our expert staff can become involved in the product development phase to provide technical contents and expert input:
o Tissue Viability nurses at BCHC provided clinically validated contents for the Pressure Ulcer Prevention game designed by Applio Limited and tested the finished product in a clinical forum to provide feedback.
Our Trust can arrange for small pilot projects to assist companies in preparing case studies that can be endorsed by BCHC. This is to assist the companies in securing future projects:
o Our Estates department has agreed to assist Hawk Technical Limited by helping to arrange a pilot energy efficiency survey on an old estate belonging to the Trust in order to endorse the services of the company for future NHS projects.
We can share expertise through direct access to experts in the Trust or via events where staff will be available for introduction of solutions and discussions around adoption:
o Patient Centred Solutions event on 21st June 2017 created a platform for 15 companies to share their innovations with a network of clinicians and non-clinical staff from within the Trust and discuss opportunities of piloting and adoption.
The Trust has access to a large directory of funding opportunities. We can assist in finding the right opportunity and help with the development of applications:
o We are in the process of assisting Safekeeping Solutions Limited in identifying the appropriate funding opportunity to allow completion of its novel bed exit sensor prototype.
The R&I team in the Trust can assist SMEs with the development of project proposals or protocols for evaluation of a solution/product/service:
o First Byte CIC was supported with the development and review of a service evaluation proposal for its New2UKHealth application.
