Cabinet Member for Green, Smart and Sustainable City

Councillor Lisa Trickett was elected as a Labour Councillor in 2012 to Moseley and Kings Heath Ward.

Lisa took on the role of Chair of the City’s Districts and Public Engagement Overview and Scrutiny Committee, which provided policy overview and scrutiny to the City’s Devolution agenda.
Lisa is the Chair of the City’s Cycling Forum, the umbrella body that has helped shape the Birmingham Cycling Revolution. Since June of 2014, she has held the Cabinet portfolio for a Smart, Green and Sustainable City, which combines lead responsibility for key strategic agendas to position Birmingham as a technologically ‘Smart City’, ‘Entrepreneurial City’ and a ‘Green City’.
On taking up this portfolio, she also became a Board Director of Innovation Birmingham.

Cllr Trickett provides strategic leadership of the city’s green environmental agenda, including issues around sustainability, climate change, carbon reduction, energy security, food security and green planning and transportation policies.

She promotes the development of world class technological capabilities and connectivity in Birmingham, including mobile 4G, superfast broadband connectivity and extending the use of intelligent transport systems and digital technologies for “open access” to support “green and smart” actions. She oversees the management of the city centre and has a strategic overview of parks as well as the lead member for the cycling revolution.
