The Big Science Roadshow

On 11 March the Big Science Roadshow will start off in Birmingham. UKTI and partner organisations will be there to raise awareness of procurement opportunities from large-scale scientific infrastructure. The Science and Technology Facilities Council, the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), the Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTNs), and the UK Atomic Energy Authority will showcase the opportunities available at key international large research facilities such as CERN, ITER, ELI, SKA and E-ELT.

During the day, you will hear from The Science and Technology Facilities Council, the Electronics Sensors and Photonics Knowledge Transfer Network (ESP KTN) and the UK Atomic Energy Authority who will all present the opportunities available at:

  • The Large Hadron Collider at CERN
  • ITER, a fusion project which aims to demonstrate that it is possible to produce commercial energy from fusion
  • ELI, the extreme light infrastructure
  • SKA, the square kilometre array
  • E-ELT, the extremely large telescope

Further more, you have the opportunity to have individual meetings with representatives from above organisations. You will be given advice on bidding to the facilities as well as working in the various countries the facilities are based.

A networking lunch is included and you will be able to share best practice with companies in your field.
