Innovation Lab: Connecting Creative & Digital SMEs to Sustainability & Low Carbon Opportunities
November 4, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pmFREE
The Low Carbon economy is worth £4trillion globally and growing fast. It provides a significant business opportunity for a wide range of creative and digital businesses. The Innovation Lab will help delegates understand how to adapt their existing business and current products and services to address sustainability and low carbon challenges, opening up potential new markets.
The lab will feature challenges from three of the West Midlands largest public organisations: Birmingham City Council, University Hospitals Birmingham, and Heart of England Foundation Trust. It will use an innovative and practical approach to turn these challenges into a range of potential commercial solutions, with the possibility for delegates to join consortia to take ideas further after the lab has finished.
The lab will be an opportunity for businesses to understand the challenges Birmingham City Council and the NHS Trusts face as they grapple with how best to deliver low carbon and sustainable solutions. The lab will help digital businesses identify ways they can be a part of rolling out low carbon solutions in new services and emerging low carbon markets.
Businesses attending the workshop will:
- Have face-to-face time with leading organisations engaged in low carbon challenges
- Collaborate with organisations to kick start the innovation process
- Gain insights into the low carbon aspects of NHS and council services
In partnership with Innovation Birmingham, the lab will be an opportunity for digital SMEs to understand the challenges facing health and public sector organisations, giving them the chance to explore the innovation process and the journey that organisations must take in order to develop an idea through collaboration.
