Hosted as always by mca group, Birmingham and West-Midlands based innovative chartered accountants, this ‘Innovation: maximising commercial exploitation and maximising R&D tax credits session will also have a guest slot from Steve May-Russell, Managing Director of Smallfry and leading Industrial Design and Innovation Consultant.
Steve will talk about innovation – specifically market pull vs. market push and what you’ll need to succeed. He is a well-respected and regular speaker at international conferences, and is employed as an innovation coach and designer to many global high street brands helping invigorate and develop new and fresh product and service offerings. Steve represents the creative industries on the UK Trade & Investment’s bi-lateral partnerships in the Far East and is regularly invited to speak to international audiences on Innovation Develop Brands. Steve is also a Regional Director of British Design Innovation and a panel judge for several prestigious design awards.
Dr Andrew Jupp will give a summary of the R&D tax credit regime. Whilst some of you will have heard Andrew speak before, he will use some new case studies to demonstrate the widespread application of R&D tax credits, talk about the pros and cons of the new HMRC assurance procedure, and the new guidance issued by HMRC on what constitutes “consumables ” for R&D.
Andrew is mca’s Tax Director, and a former PhD Research Scientist. He is one of the country’s leading authorities on R&D tax credits and the commercialisation of intellectual property.
Andrew and his mca colleagues will also be happy to deal with any other burning issues you have – whether they be general business, accounting, structural, or tax – and can arrange one-to-one follow-up meetings as appropriate.
