Come along and be part of the first Venturefest WM which is being held at the NEC’s Gallery Suite on 30th June 2015. This new one-day free event will bring together entrepreneurs, investors and innovators to meet, engage, and discuss ideas that enable and support economic growth in the region.
Don’t miss leading UK entrepreneur Sir Peter Rigby, Chairman and Chief Executive of Rigby Group PLC, who will share insights and secrets of success drawn from his forty years’ experience of setting up from scratch, growing organically and successfully acquiring and integrating over 70 businesses in building the group as it is today. Sir Peter started The Rigby Group in 1975 with £2000 and today the group turns over £1.8billion.
Also speaking is Dr Ruth McKernan, Chief Executive of the UK’s innovation agency Innovate UK, which aims to accelerate economic growth by stimulating and supporting business-led innovation. An award-winning science writer and author, Ruth has spent 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, working extensively with Innovate UK in the areas of stems cells. She was awarded a CBE in 2013 for services to Business Innovation and Skills.
A key highlight of the event is Pitchfest, a celebration of the region’s exciting new start-ups. Organised by Aston University, the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick, Pitchfest is a competition inviting business owners to present their ideas, pitch for investment and take part in the showcase event, with the chance of winning one of several awards.
For the investor, Venturefest WM gives the opportunity to:
- hear pitches from innovators and entrepreneurs involved in new and growing businesses in a range of sectors seeking investment
- meet other investors interested in potential collaborative co-funding
- keep up to date and hear about the latest developments in particular sectors at workshops and seminars throughout the day
There’ll be plenty of networking opportunities throughout the day to take your ideas forward, including Open Innovation a collaborative and impromptu space, where you can visit the Innovation Engine project’s exhibition stand and quickly discover how to use the available tools, methodologies and funded projects.
Enabling science and technology to generate greater economic impact in the West Midlands, Venturefest WM is the ideal event for those with funds to invest, seeking new ideas and methods or entrepreneurs looking for advice.
