Innovation Birmingham CEO, David Hardman, has been named in a new list of inspiring business figures.
David was one of only five West Midland’s figures to be recognised in the inaugural ‘Faces of the Vibrant Economy’ list produced by global professional service network, Grant Thornton. The list, which features a total of 100 influencers across the UK, recognises inspiring leadership, innovators and those helping to shape their communities.
Moving to Birmingham in 2008 to develop and implement a strategy that would build on the legacy of the third oldest science park in the UK, David Hardman has successfully transformed Aston Science Park into Innovation Birmingham Campus; the region’s leading location for digital and tech companies.
David Hardman, CEO of Innovation Birmingham, said: “Business incubation offerings are aimed at helping people deliver their commercial aspirations and deliver new products and services, and help create new high-growth businesses that support Birmingham’s knowledge economy.
“Real success has been seen when businesses exhibit what is in effect a form of self-interested altruism. By that, I mean businesses support society and as a consequence become stronger because the environments in which they work can more effectively support their businesses.
“It is an honour to be recognised as one of the region’s most inspiring business figures. I look forward to continuing to driving the city’s reputation for digital brilliance and to promoting Innovation Birmingham as a model for the next generation of science parks.”
The other West Midlands entrants include; Paul Dransfield, Birmingham City Council; Talisha Johnson, Skool Girl Online; Dave Maclean, Packt Publishing and Guy Mucklow, PCA Predict.
David Hillan, Practice Leader at Grant Thornton in Birmingham, said: “Earlier this year, we set out a clear purpose to shape a vibrant economy and we know that no one organisation or individual can do this alone.
“Following the result of the EU referendum, it is even more important than ever we all work together to help the UK to build upon its strengths and ensure that our economy continues to grow.
“We’re celebrating the achievements of these five ‘Faces’ who are driving a vibrant economy and sharing their stories to inspire others.”
