The UK Science Park Association has unveiled the shortlist for its 30th Anniversary Awards. The dinner is the highlight of a two-day event being held at Birmingham’s ICC this Thursday 10th and Friday 11th July, which also features an international conference and exhibition.
The Association now represents over 100 member locations across the UK, including Science Parks and Innovation Centres. With well over 500 senior representatives anticipated to attend and over 50 speakers delivering presentations, this event will be the biggest in UKSPA’s 30year history, exceeding the attendance for the 25th celebration event, held in Manchester. The six awards cover the most successful; Innovation Location; Innovative Company on an UKSPA site; Innovation Partnership and Co-Operation initiative; Innovative Project on a UKSPA site; Technology Incubator/Innovation Centre; Design and Sustainability building or initiative.
The winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner on the evening of Thursday 10th July, sponsored by IT and telecoms service provider essensys. The event will be hosted by Dr Michael Mosley; writer and presenter of BBC2′s The Story of Science and the face of science and medicine on The One Show.
UKSPA Chief Executive Paul Wright said: “The shortlist for the 30th Anniversary Awards celebrates the achievements of the sector, our partners, members and their tenant companies. The work undertaken by over 4,000 businesses at the 100-plus UKSPA locations demonstrates world class innovation within the UK and shows how our members and their teams work together to create the right environments to catalyse business success.”
The two-day 30th Anniversary Summit comprises an international conference sponsored by intellectual property specialists Marks and Clerk and an exhibition sponsored by BEST Network (the largest, privately owned network of science parks).
UKSPA Chairman Dr David Hardman said: “The Conference, Awards Dinner and Exhibition in Birmingham this week will showcase the important work of the Science Park and Innovation Movement, which over the last three decades has delivered significant economic growth to the national and local knowledge economies.
