Two of the 2015 Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Technology finalists are tech entrepreneurs based at the Innovation Birmingham Campus. Simon Kaguramamba of Action Starter Ltd and Daniel Thompson of D4 Software Ltd will go head to head in the final of the BYPY Awards at Birmingham’s ICC on Thursday 14th May.
The BYPY Awards consists of six main categories; Finance; HR, Recruitment & Training; Legal; Marketing & Communications; Property & Construction; and Technology. The annual awards programme has been running since 2001, as the flagship event of BPS Birmingham Future.
Simon Kaguramamba is the Chief Technical Officer and co-founder of Action Starter Ltd. He was the recent winner of ‘The Business Link, Young Entrepreneur of the Year.’ Having been mentored by Karl George MBE for 12 months, Simon has addressed peer groups at the Birmingham Entrepreneurs Meet-up Group and Innovation Birmingham’s Tech Wednesday event, and has also had involvement with Start-Up Direct and the Government’s Start-Up Loans scheme. Simon’s is developing a new technology – Applicatalyst – to process applications, which is currently being supported on Innovation Birmingham’s e4f Inspire programme.
Daniel Thompson is the company director of D4 Software, which is working on big data projects within the automotive, construction and energy industries. He joined the Entrepreneurs for the Future (e4f) programme in 2013 to develop an innovative product to analyse big data called ‘Query Tree’. Over the past two years, he has continued to grow D4 Software at the Innovation Birmingham Campus. Daniel has also founded a group of entrepreneurs who regularly meet to give advice and brainstorm ideas.
To reach the final of BYPY, Simon and Daniel have already demonstrated that they are technically and commercially amongst the best young professionals within the West Midlands region. The Technology category is open to individuals who plan, design, develop, implement or manage a tech based in-house department, agency or private business. This includes people in product/service development, R&D, digital communication, web planning/design/development, mobile development, network architecture and management.
