Innovation Birmingham has announced a month-long schedule of start-up and SME-focussed events, in celebration of their latest Campus initiative, Scale-up March.
To kick off Scale-up March, this month’s Tech Wednesday meet-up (15th March) is being taken over by Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), one of the partners behind our Serendip Smart City Incubator programme. Attendees will get to hear from start-ups working with TfWM on a 10-year plan to deliver strategies across freight and highways, bus services, rail, intelligent mobility, research and data.
Innovation Birmingham will then jet off to India on the 16th March with a select group of SMEs based at the Campus, to explore investment and partnership opportunities. With tickets to the 2-day IESS International Engineering Sourcing Show in Chennai, the trip will explore the potential of meeting with 400 exhibiting companies, 10,000 visitors from India and overseas and circa 500 overseas delegates.
On Monday 20th March, Innovation Birmingham will then be supporting Uprising, an organisation which delivers training and mentoring programmes for young aspiring professionals for their one-day entrepreneurship day titled ‘Fastlaners’. As Skills Champion, CEO Dr David Hardman MBE and a number of start-up and commercial partners will be talking at the event.
Innovation Birmingham will then host the Birmingham leg of this year’s Tech Nation on Tour event on Thursday 30th March. This free-to-attend event will celebrate the growth of digital tech across the UK over the past 12 months, as CEO of Tech City UK, Gerard Grech delves into themes uncovered by the report and discusses the opportunities and challenges for the future.
To mark a close following an impressive month of activity, Innovation Birmingham will be hosting this year’s annual Blockconf UK on 19th – 20th April. The two-day event, in collaboration with regional blockchain technology investment club, Decrypto will bring together programmers and businesses from across the UK to inform people on the uses, possibilities and industry application of blockchain and will include several high-profile industry speakers including founder of computer software company McAfee Associates, John David McAfee.
