West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) comprises of 18 local authorities and four Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), who work together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands.
Transport for West Midlands (“TfWM”) is part of WMCA and is responsible for the delivery of public transport in the West Midlands, aiming to create a world-class public transport network delivered by a "best-in-class" organisation.
We represent the seven Metropolitan Districts of the West Midlands; Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton, with a Head Office based in Birmingham.
We have considerable expertise in public transport policy, planning, customer insight, IT and operations, utilising our experience in developing and exploiting R&D projects such as smartcard, sustainable power, mobility app platforms and CAV.
Since April 2016, we have worked in the Serendip Smart City Incubator at Innovation Birmingham’s iCentrum building to introduce transport innovation challenges to start-ups and SMEs to enable the development and implementation of new businesses and services.
Through the Innovation Engine Project, we will utilise this experience to provide support through making our Open Data and APIs available for parties interested in developing transport innovation, making our procurement opportunities available and providing support to SMEs who wish to deliver innovative travel plans for their business and employees.
